Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently serves as its president. Buss comes originally from California was born into an very wealthy family. Jerry Buss' father was a real-estate magnate who later owned the Lakers as well as various other sports organizations. When her parents split in 1972 She began feeling in a sense of being abandoned emotionally. When she was 19, she was employed for the family's business. The team was later renamed in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. Her first role was vice-president of the Lakers prior to taking over the presidency of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and the ownership for the Lakers was passed on to Buss as well as her siblings through a family trust with each sibling having the same vote. Buss was elected in 2013 to take over the presidency of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
